Crime Passion Chantel Rhondeau
Talk about bad luck and Madeline Scott has had her fair share of it, maybe more. Reeling from a canceled wedding where her groom and maid of honor were found together, Madeline Scott moves to a small coastal town only to find a body on the beach, as in dead body.
The responding officer is Donovan Andrews, the local playboy who's cycled through all of the women in town, some several times, from the police chief's daughter to Madeline's boss, Lindsay.
Sparks fly as suspicions revolve around the town that Donovan was the killer. Madeline believes Donovan is innocent, and reluctantly join forces with him to find the real killer--all the while fending off his romantic overtures.
The plot thickens with a second murder, but when Madeline is injured by a maniac, Donovan stays at her side and wins over her parents. After several twists, both romantic and suspenseful, Madeline has to trust Donovan or lose her life.
This story was exciting and dramatic. I could understand how distrustful Madeline was of Donovan, but I loved the way Donovan persisted on winning her over. He was sweet and thoughtful, and always made sure to consider her feelings about her self image and her past. Even though he had a reputation, once he fell in love with Madeline, he did everything he could to reassure her and put up with her snarky remarks and putdowns.
I was really happy that Madeline finally understood why Donovan was the way he was and accepted his past, and I loved the ending and the plans they have for their future together.

BalasHapusI loved the chemistry between Maddie and Donovan, lots of SIZZLE! The author did a fabulous job of creating depth to all of the characters. I loved the twists and turns the story took and she literally kept me guessing until the very end. Very clever plot!
I will definitely be adding Chantel Rhondeau to my To Read list! Also, be sure to read her first book, Always and Forever.
I loved this one. The mystery dragged me in early and every time I thought I'd figured it out, there was a new, fun twist. I liked that the hero wasn't perfect and the heroine had spunk, despite some of the obstacles she had to overcome. I like this author and am looking forward to reading her next book!

Finding a dead body by the shore turned her peaceful life upside down. Luckily, she meets Officer Donovan Andrews and a quick attraction forms between the two. When Donovan becomes the prime suspect, Madeline doesn't know what to do, but with Donovan's persistence, she joins him in trying to find the true suspect.

The story is full of mystery. A whole list of secondary characters has you looking over your shoulder and playing detective as you try to figure out who is the killer. And of course, the romantic and dramatic twists and turns throughout the story keep the reader on their toes.
If you like a "Who Done It" tale with a splash of sexy romance, this is the novel for you. It won't disappoint.
BalasHapusI was very excited to read the second book by this author. The thrilling plot-turns in this book kept me anxious to reach the end of the story. I enjoyed the developing relationship between the main characters and how it naturally flowed through the mystery. I greatly enjoyed this book from the first page all the way to the very last sentence. I look forward to reading her future novels.
BalasHapusI'm not a romance reader, but this story grabbed my attention and kept it. We meet the main character, Madeline, walking on a beach where she finds a body. She calls the police and is introduced to officer, Donovan, who rubs her wrong from the beginning. As the story progresses, the two become close - even though Donovan is implicated for the murder. With desperate odds, Madeline sticks with Donovan. Through riveting twists and turns, the two are thrown into a suspenseful drama that uncovers the worst of love and the best of love. You will like this story if you like crime and romance thrown into the mix. The author makes sure you're guessing at every intersection as to who the real murderer is even until the ending. Crime and Passion is a must read for suspense readers and romance readers alike. I recommend it.
